Synopsis:
Eve has a new home, a new face, and a new name—but no memories of her past. She’s been told that she's in a witness protection program. That she escaped a dangerous magic-wielding serial killer who still hunts her. The only thing she knows for sure is that there is something horrifying in her memories the people hiding her want to access—and there is nothing they won’t say—or do—to her to get her to remember.

At night she dreams of a tattered carnival tent and buttons being sewn into her skin. But during the day, she shelves books at the local library, trying to not let anyone know that she can do things—things like change the color of her eyes or walk through walls. When she does use her strange powers, she blacks out and is drawn into terrifying visions, returning to find that days or weeks have passed—and she’s lost all short-term memories. Eve must find out who and what she really is before the killer finds her—but the truth may be more dangerous than anyone could have ever imagined.

My Thoughts:
Disclaimer: I received a e-copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinions.

What do you get when you mix Witness Protection Program because of a serial killer with amnesia? You get Conjured.

At first, it was kind of difficult to grasp what was going on. Eve doesn't remember where she came from and she keeps passing out and having these weird dreams about a magician and a storyteller. Each time she has a vision, she ends up losing time - weeks, hours, any expanse of time that she actually was going about her regular life (as regular as possible in Witness Protection) without even realizing it. There is an element of magic as well, as Eve changes her eyes to green in the first couple of chapters. She meets a group of kids at the WPP agency that have powers - one has the power of electricity, one can vanish and reappear in another spot, and one turns into a snake.

Throughout the book, you don't have a clue who you can trust. It's hard to know if the serial killer is at the agency or what's going on. So you are definitely kept in the dark and kept guessing. The ending of the book was crazy. I didn't see the twists coming at all. I really loved Agent Malcolm, Aunt Nicki, and Zach. The story would not have been as great without them interacting with Eve.
